Andrea Pottyondy, SCA
Biography
Art is everywhere in my life. I am an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, the initiator of Artspa (art group), docent at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and an artist who sees the potential in common bits and pieces of everyday life. My art is creativity in constant flux and evolution.
Born and raised in Quebec, I also lived in Yukon Territory from 1984-88 and presently reside with my family in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada. I have studied art with the University of Southern California, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and with professional artists in Canada and abroad.
Artist Statement
Love for my local environment, history and travel inspire the colourful layered landscapes, textured florals and narratives that I create. Painting emotively is my modus operandi. I need to feel what I see before I can paint it. My mediums are acrylics, oils, pastels, watercolour crayons, ink, handmade papers, found objects and printmaking, which I incorporate in my art works.
My artwork has been purchased by the Nova Scotia Art Bank 2009, is featured in Nova Scotia’s Contemporary Artists Volume II 2010, International Women Celebrate, 100 Women Artists Reflect 2011, Arabella Magazine Spring 2013 and hangs in private and corporate collections.
Recently, two of my paintings received 1st Place awards in the American Art Awards competition 2013.
I have always wanted to share my passion for art and hope to bring a smile to the viewer’s lips, and even better, to stir some emotion deep within.
